Water-Based Pre Stain Wood Conditioner
General Finishes Water-Based Pre-Stain Conditioner is essentially a water-based stain formula without added color. Apply it before a water-based stain to minimize blotchiness on woods like maple, pine, and cherry. It works by soaking into and partially sealing the more porous areas of the wood, thereby controlling the amount of stain they absorb. This helps stain cover more evenly so soft or absorbent regions do not end up darker than the hard grain, yielding consistent color saturation.

Water-Based Pre-Stain Conditioner is a PFAS-free formula.
